Reading the Pictures: Rumsfeld's Killing Pace


If you missed the lead in today's NYT, here's the extended headline I'd have preferred:

Bush Administration Attempts To Counter Impression Rumsfeld is Smug,

Dictatorial Leader Continually Stifling More Experienced Underlings

Sure, its one visual out-take from a pro-Rummy press conference. What the story's image vividly suggests, however, is Rumsfeld's reflexive need to impose his will over others, and the sting that sends through the ranks.

(...Notice, by the way, how the raised hand -- inside the DOD symbol -- seems to specifically beg the input of Joint Chief Chairman, General Peter Pace?)
