4th Of July

Americans have celebrated Independence Day with fireworks displays since the country's first Fourth of July in 1777. Today, the fireworks industry is big business, with average Americans spending millions of dollars on retail fireworks every year.
With your cast iron skillet, slow-cooker and freezer, tiny kitchens can produce summer feasts.
As we celebrate America's Independence Day -- as we explore what it means to be American on the most American of all days -- I also celebrate my independence from the word "illegal."
While Native Americans celebrate this 4th of July weekend, probably with hotdogs and fireworks, and possibly a powwow, I wonder whether we might all consider what that three word phrase wrought.
