The former mayor of South Bend, Indiana, badly needs a win in the Granite State.
The news wire said it can't call the race because of irregularities in the caucus process and the tight margin between Bernie Sanders and Pete Buttigieg.
The state's voters will mark paper ballots because as Secretary of State Bill Gardner is fond of saying, “You can’t hack a pencil.”
"A margin of 6,000 votes is pretty decisive," the Vermont senator said.
His announcement follows days of waiting for final results from the chaotic caucus.
