WHAT'S HAPPENING
Preston Hemphill and another officer were suspended, and five more officers have been fired and charged with crimes for beating Nichols.
The Congressional Black Caucus invited Nichols' family to the event as Biden speaks before Congress on Feb. 7.
The 29-year-old Black man was arrested during a traffic stop and died three days later.
