Christian Glass was shot after calling 911 for roadside assistance while experiencing what his mother described as a mental health crisis.
The Vallejo, California, police officer was fired last week following an investigation into the June 2020 shooting.
The officer, who had been with the San Antonio Police Department for seven months, was fired following the incident.
The deputy involved in the shooting will be on paid leave until an investigation is completed.
