Rod Blagojevich

Blagojevich was convicted for trying to make money out of his power to appoint a replacement for Barack Obama, who was leaving his seat in the U.S. Senate representing Illinois after winning the presidential election in 2008.
It now seems fair to consider the possibility that Reid and his allies might have decided to oppose any Blogojevich appointee ( as an act of political vindictiveness
If the Bush administration would have at least acted like they might have done something wrong, maybe we could have moved on. But if Cheney is going on national TV to endorse torture, he has tied the hands of the country.
