My eyes have been opened, and I am amazed by what the French public school system does daily at noon. It's no wonder French kids can be seen in very nice restaurants on their best behavior, eating whatever is given to them.

Which country's lunch would you want to be eating?

"I missed you today," I said. I know plenty of parenting books advise against saying this very thing to our kids; we're not supposed to make them feel guilty that we spent the day missing them. But it came out. It was the truth.

My kids have just slightly over four waking non-school hours to call their own. As a parent, I really cannot cover everything I want my kids to learn from me in the four hours I have them at home.
