A Prayer For Newtown

How can our hearts not break?

How can we hold our tears?

How can we bear the pain of losing those loving children and their guardians, who were slain in Newtown, Conn.?

Why can't we face the reality of our times and restrict deranged people from having these destructive powers?

What can we do to help curb the degradation of the human spirit to such a breaking point of senseless atrocities?

What can we do as individuals and as a nation to honor and protect the sanctity of all life?

It is crucial that we stand together as one family to embrace our essential spiritual and human values and realize that these values are our only true wealth.

In our grief over the tragic loss of these beautiful lives we may find solace in knowing that no evil, not even death itself can harm their immortal souls.

For they are forever the precious children of our Lord.
