It’s enough to make you sick, isn’t it?

You can’t figure out an effective morning ritual. Everyone you know has a morning ritual, and they are benefiting massively. So obviously you feel like a total loser like something is tragically wrong with you.

Relax. You are not the only one who has a tough time developing an effective morning ritual. There is no blueprint. And, for the most part, it’s trial and error. Even I struggle to find the proper mix for my morning ritual.

I am always on the hunt to improve my morning routine. So when I ran across this guide from Funders and Founders, I noticed they had a different take on the morning ritual.

I adopted my morning ritual from Hal Elrod author of the Morning Miracle. It is designed to give me the energy I need to create an amazing day.

The Funders and Founders infographic appears to focus on doing important work first thing in the morning – which I don’t agree with. But there are two powerful items that I am going to adapt to my ritual.

How Do You Instantly Create a Better Day -- Visualize It

I think that visualization is very important because it’s like doing a daily "Ideal World" exercise. This activity is powerful because it allows you to look for opportunities (in the real world) that are similar to your ideal world.

Tony Robbins takes visualization a bit further by adding incantations. Robbins not only speaks the visualizations, he embodies it until the visualization becomes a part of him.

It Would Suck If You Died Today

Steve Jobs was an iconic figure. Why – because of this quote:

“Every morning I asked myself: If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today.”

I can almost guarantee that you would say, "no."

I will begin to introduce those two new items into my morning ritual over the next few days. I challenge you to look at my morning ritual – you can either copy it or simply choose what you think works for you:

  • Wake up at 4-ish
  • Drink a cup of coffee
  • Yoga – 20 minutes
  • Incantations – new
  • Journal - Five Minute Journal
  • Steve Jobs quote – new
  • Meditate – 7 minutes
  • Shave, shower, and get dressed
  • Eat breakfast
  • Spend the next 5 hours doing work that matters

It does not matter if you follow one morning ritual over another or even if you devise your own unique morning ritual. The win is that you have a ritual which you internalize.

Because the goal is to create an amazing morning that will allow you to successfully manage your day.
