My Top 5 Boots for Fall 2011

I have long been a fan of Ann Demeulemeester, especially her amazing, cult-status shoes, and not buying a certain pair of heavily laced-up black boots a few seasons back still haunts me.

I have a love affair with boots. I collect them, obsess over them, and
wear them every day and night, even in the middle of the summer. They
also happen to be the perfect complement to my Reece Hudson collection
of handbags. In my mind the best part of Fall fashion is all the new,
beautiful boots to be worn (or simply lusted for). Since I don't live
in a dream world in which I can simply go buy each and every pair of
boots my heart desires (there are simply far too many), I have
narrowed it down to my top 5 favorites of the coming season. I hope
you agree. Let boot season commence!

1. Sartore Western Ankle Boots -- These have long been on my list, and
I think the time has come for them finally to be mine. They are
classic and simple, subtly detailed and textural, a western edge
without the kitsch, and are the perfect just-polished-enough boots to
wear with skinny jeans (Acne Needle Jeans, meet your new best friend)
during the day and into the night.

2. Suede Thigh High Alaia Boots -- is there really any explanation
needed? Clean long lines, rich suede, and a sophisticated shaped heel
-- an automatic outfit maker. Plus, did I mention they are Alaia?
Perfection.

3. Ann Demeulemeester Lace-up Wedge Boots -- I have long been a fan of Ann Demeulemeester, especially her amazing, cult-status shoes, and not
buying a certain pair of heavily laced-up black boots a few seasons
back still haunts me. So when I discovered a similar look set on a
sleek wedge, I knew it was meant to be. I won't let the chance pass me
by again.

4. Isabel Marant -- I've always been a sucker for fringe, and in this
case it's been done just right, chic with just enough of a bohemian
vibe without crossing the line into cheesy territory. Leather and
suede combo in a perfect, warm, fall color, done up in an easy,
slouchy silhouette that evokes the original boots for which Isabel
Marant first developed a legion of devoted fans (I happen to own a
pair of those fantastic originals myself, naturally).

5. Topshop Velvet Lace-up -- 2 things that I love unconditionally:
velvet and the color red. So when these two things come together in a
cute, casual, lace-up bootie that also happens to be super affordable,
how can I resist? The perfect shoe to really start getting into the
fall spirit.
