Follow along as Roadtrippers meets up with hundreds of MINI owners in San Francisco for a cross-country road trip like no other. There will be pet pageants, parties, and more as we go coast-to-coast in 14 days on the 2014 MINI Takes the States.
Just what the heck will we be doing? We’ll be hanging out with all the hardcore MINI lovers both on the road and in each city and even hitting the race track in some MINIs to show off that classic handling that made the car famous. We’ll be stopping at iconic American destinations like Bonneville Salt Flats Speedway and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, and most of all, just having a freakin’ great time on the road.
This 18-state trip isn’t just to have a good time though… It’s for a good cause too! A portion of the proceeds from even registration fees this year will benefit the animal-focused non-profit Best Friends. More about the partnership from MINI:
Every MTTS a charitable partner is selected to receive a portion of the proceeds from the event registration fees. This year the proceeds will be donated to Best Friends®. The partnership puts MINI owners and MTTS participants in the driver’s seat helping Best Friends to Save Them All® in their endeavor to save the lives of pets in America's shelters. MINI owners and fans who participate in the rally are also welcome to make individual contributions at hosted activities along the route.
Best Friends Animal Society is the only national animal welfare organization dedicated exclusively to ending the killing of dogs and cats in America’s shelters. When Best Friends began in 1984, some 17 million animals died every year in America’s shelters, simply for not having homes. Today, that number is down to about 4 million. That’s incredible progress, but it also means that more than 9,000 wonderful dogs and cats are still losing their lives every day.
