Carrie Underwood is a role model for all small town dreamers.

Before her big performance at last night's Samsung #Hope4Children event, she dropped by the blue carpet to discuss her foundation, American Idol and country music.

Her organization, the Checotah Animal, Town, and School Foundation (C.A.T.S.), helps to improve Underwood's hometown of Checotah, Oklahoma.

"I owe so much to my town and the people," Underwood told us. "It's been great to give the town things like musical instruments and computer labs and I look forward to what we're going to do in the future."

When asked what her hope for children is, she said, "It's so important for them to know that they can do anything. You look at some of the people that are getting honored tonight and they're strong people who defy odds. Some came from a small town like me. Really anything is possible."
