With a little less than six weeks before Election Day, a new poll conducted by Republican polling firm OnMessage, Inc. puts Republican businessman Bill Flores in the lead to capture the House of Representatives seat for the 17th Congressional District of Texas. The poll of 400 likely voters says that Flores has claimed a 55 percent to 36 percent lead over 20-year incumbent Rep. Chet Edwards (D-Tex.), with the margin of error at plus or minus 4.9 percent.

Flores commissioned the polling firm to conduct the survey Sept. 19-20, 2010.
