Between all the chaos, stress, and sleepless nights of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, there was one event that provided a much needed break in the conventional routine. For me, Strut: The Fashionable Mom Show was just that. The show was all about "Moms on a Mission," showcasing women who are making a difference in the world. I co-hosted this year's show with Denise Albert and Melissa Gerstein of The Moms and special guests Wendy Williams and Lisa Rinna. We put on the show, at The Stage at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Lincoln Center, with a fabulous group of hard working mothers of all kinds, from philanthropists to entrepreneurs to CEOs. This year's show was incredibly special to me as I was able to involve all three of my children, who were all beyond excited to participate. My oldest son Zachary confidently led the procession in Ralph Lauren, followed by his younger siblings Tyler and Alexi, also in Ralph Lauren. The singing, dancing, high-fiving women and children who followed them out were an inspiration as they truly embodied the reality of being a "fashionable mom." The show embraces "real" women who are empowered by creating a balance in their home and work lives, which is why it was so important for us to involve our children in the event. Models of all shapes, sizes, and backgrounds strutted down the runway last night; from a military mom to a single dad with his 3-year-old twins (David Kirsch!). All of the models had a blast making their way down the runway, all spinning and dancing and even throwing off their heels! Most of the looks from the show were provided by Rent the Runway and Bloomingdales, which included lines from the likes of Diane von Furstenburg, Oscar de la Renta, Rachel Roy, and Catherine Malandrino. We look forward to the next Strut: The Fashionable Mom Show -- hope to see you there!
