Queenstown, New Zealand is the "Adventure Capital of the World." This international resort town is located on the south island and is situated beside a promontory reaching far out into Lake Wakatipu.

Thrill seekers gravitate to the bungee-jumping capital for the maximum adrenalin rush. For those who have no sense of fear, this destination offers limitless action-packed activities. One style note to remember: New Zealanders don't call it bungee, they write it "bungy."

AJ Hackett Bungy Jump
The ultimate daredevil adventure is the bungee jump. AJ Hackett is the original king of bungee; he started the craze in the 1980s. His company in Queenstown offers three jumps: the original 141 ft. Kawarau Bridge Bungy, the 440 ft. Nevis River Bungy and the 1,312 ft. Ledge Bungy, called the "Runway."

Shotover Jet
You will soar in a 14-passenger jet boat on the Shotover River. Speeding at upwards of 85 mph, and in as little as 4 inches of water, the "Big Red" will do 360-degree spins within inches of the canyon walls. This wild and exhilarating ride is pure fun and not to be missed. (It is my favorite.)

Tip: For the best view of Queenstown, Lake Wakatipu and the peaks of the Remarkables, take the Skyline Gondola up to the summit of Bob's Peak.
