Mother's Day Masterpieces: 5 Works of Art Get the Mommy Treatment (PHOTOS)

Written by Jacqueline Burt on CafeMom's blog, The Stir.

So everybody knows "The Scream" by Edvard Munch just sold for $119.9 million at Sotheby's -- the most money ever paid for a piece of art at an auction.

At press time, the identity of the buyer was still a mystery, but I bet I know something about the person who forked over millions of dollars for that painting -- I bet she's a mom!

Because ... let's be honest here, ladies:

Who among us hasn't felt the way that screaming figure looks?

In fact, take a closer look and you might realize that some of the greatest masterpieces in Art History are just begging to be mommified ...

I doubt "The Scream(ing) Mom" will ever sell for $119.9 million, but if it makes you laugh, well, that's priceless, right?

Take a stroll through our virtual gallery to see mom-centric versions of paintings by Sandro Botticelli ("The Birth of Venus"), Salvador Dalí ("The Persistence of Memory"), Pablo Picasso ("Les Desmoiselles d'Avignon") and Vincent Van Gogh ("Self-Portrait with Bandaged Ear").
