Brit Hume, <em>Fox Special Report</em> -- Pure Cowardice on Display Tonight

Ok, so (like a lot of you, I hope) I make a it a habit, when some especially shaming thing happens to the Bush administration, to watch Brit Hume's Special Report from 6 to 7 (on the East Coast). It's always helpful to see just how they are going to spin and cope.

So, naturally, after today's testimony by Jessica Lynch and the Tillman family before Waxman's House Committee, I tuned in to Fox for that hour.

They did their minimal basic reporting duty in the 6 - 6:30 time slot. They allowed their constituents to learn that the hearing happened.

But that wasn't why I was watching. I wanted to hear what the "Fox All Stars" in the 6:30 - 7 time slot had to say about this outrageous bullshit. I wanted to hear from Fred Barnes and Mort Kondracke, Bill Kristol and Charles Krauthammer -- and, of course, Mara Liaison (She must have kids in college. She never says anything).

Anyway, I was waiting for this crew to deal with this testimony, which spoke so directly to the blue collar and rural Americans whom these neo-con chicken hawks have sacrificed to their imperial fantasies -- the very folks Fox exploits all day long.

So what did the "Fox All Stars" have to say about the true story of Jessica Lynch and Pat Tillman?

Nothing. The Waxman hearing didn't happen. It never came up. Brit's show just fled in the face of truth. He did one of his bogus chuckling things at the end, showing doctored video of Cheney doing hand springs. And all the hired hacks around the table chuckled along with him.

A new dimension for the phrase "chicken hawk."
