Prince Harry’s father, Prince Charles, will accompany Meghan Markle down the aisle during the royal wedding. Kensington Palace released a statement following the announcement that Markle’s own father, Thomas Markle, is recovering from heart surgery and will be unable to attend the ceremony.

Meghan Markle thanked “everyone who has offered generous messages of support” surrounding the news that her father, Thomas, will not attend her wedding.
