Ethan Couch's deportation was delayed by a Mexican judge.
Couch, 18, and his mother, Tonya Couch, were taken into custody on Monday evening in the Pacific Ocean resort of Puerto Vallarta.
His attorneys used the "affluenza" defense, which claimed he was so wealthy and spoiled that he could not tell the difference between right and wrong.
Tonya Couch may be with her son, Ethan, the Tarrant County Sheriff's Office said.
