The North’s Kim Jong-un has moved both America and the South into a new, less certain world.
Neither the North nor South wants to see their country decimated, and superpower neighbors like Russia and China don’t want a conflict with the U.S. on their borders.
South Korea also demanded consent before any U.S. military action on the peninsula.
China has no reason to restrain Kim too soon, or for too modest a price.
It's the first time Korean-American elected officials have spoken in one voice on the issue.
