pulse nightclub shooting

The UpStairs Lounge attack was the largest in U.S. history to target the LGBTQ community until 2016, when it was surpassed by the Pulse nightclub massacre.
The term “Latinx” is a hotly contested term in the community. Gender nonbinary and LGBTQ Latinxs say it’s a gender-inclusive and neutral term to refer to individuals and the community.
Ricardo Negron and Patience Carter, both survivors of the 2016 attack at Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida, recount their experience of the tragedy.
"What am I to do here when my people are getting killed over there?" the shooter asked a police negotiator.
"He's going to kill us," a man whispers to a 911 dispatcher in one call.
The logs detail more than four hours of terror as dispatchers received calls by the minute.
He explained how what had been a "great night" quickly turned deadly, as the shooter entered the club.
