"Thank you for all that you are, and for all that you continue to give us," the director wrote. "This is the least of what you deserve, Your Majesty."
"Prioritizing hope whenever possible is a brave and bold thing to do," the award-winning director wrote.
The duo hurl tweets and subpoenas on the magazine's latest front page.
During a year when Trump went after the press, Time magazine has honored “guardians and the war on truth” as its 2018 person of the year.
The weekly newsmagazine honored several slain journalists, including Jamal Khashoggi and Capital Gazette staffers, as this year's winner.
