The magazine reported that a female student as "Jackie" was raped at a university fraternity house in 2012.
Columbia Journalism School described the story as "a journalistic failure."
"A Rape on Campus: A Brutal Assault and Struggle for Justice at UVA," detailed an attack at the school. But an investigation later concluded that the rape never happened, and the story was retracted.

An accused former University of Virginia student argues the Education Department illegally enacted additional regulations for schools.
The University of Virginia student was detained in January for allegedly trying to steal an item bearing a propaganda slogan from his hotel in Pyongyang.
Jesse Matthew Jr., a former college football player, had been charged with two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of abduction with intent to defile.
"I hope more athletes see this and say, 'We have power. We have power to make change in our communities and power to make the world a better place.'"
