Donnell Russell is accused of forcing the cancellation of a "Surviving R. Kelly" screening by calling in a threat to a crowded Manhattan theater.
Kelly’s attorneys claimed that the 55-year-old Kelly was placed on suicide watch last week as a form of punishment after a judge sentenced him to 30 years behind bars.

The R&B singer was convicted in Brooklyn, New York, for sex crimes against minors and young women and will face a separate trial in Chicago.
The 24-year-old, who testified against the singer, said he had a fair trial and was not “railroaded."
Black girls are adultified and oversexualized. This stigma helped the singer get away with serial sexual abuse.
The disgraced comedian told TMZ the singer “got railroaded” in his sex-trafficking trial that ended Monday.
"I think he’ll be welcomed back into Chicago as a person who can be redeemed," the Illinois lawmaker said.
This is the first time the R&B singer has been convicted for sex crimes against minors and young women.
