The FBI’s number two leader, Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, is stepping down and taking “terminal leave.”
He was an ally of former FBI Director James Comey, and has been at the center of some of the bureau's biggest cases in recent years.
"This is a president who is just getting to know people, and that’s part of those conversations,” said Ronna Romney McDaniel.
The Oval Office meeting left McCabe feeling "disturbed," according to reports.
Andrew McCabe had faced criticism because his wife received campaign donations from a political action committee affiliated with a Clinton ally.
Andrew McCabe declined to comment on President Donald Trump and former FBI Director James Comey at the Senate Intelligence Committee’s hearing.
Andrew McCabe, who is acting director of the FBI following President Donald Trump's dismissal of James Comey, is facing scrutiny over Hillary Clinton's email scandal.
“Director Comey enjoyed broad support within the FBI, and still does to this day."
